BLC Breast Cancer Awareness Month Event

The Blooming Ladies Co-op will be hosting a Breast Cancer Awareness Month event on Oct 27th, from 10 am to 11 am (MDT). Join us this Saturday, to learn more about the illness and about how you can take better care of your health.

Nola Peacock began her career as a pediatric oncology nurse, gaining unparalleled experience in assisting families through challenging times, Now, as the founder of Confident Happy Kids, Nola inspires kids and their parents to build strong connections with each other, boost their confidence, and be more resilient.  Following her recent journey through breast cancer, she has created a new program to assist others to create their own conscious care plan so that they can be maneuver through life's challenges.  


BIO, Dr. Seyi Akinola MBChB, MsPH, CCFP.

I am Oluseyi (Seyi) Akinola, pronounced Shayee. 

A Family Physician, Clinical Lecturer and Researcher at the University of Calgary with my practice split between the Sunridge Family Medicine Academic Teaching Centre and the Mosaic Refugee Health Centre, Calgary AB.

I obtained my medical degree from Nigeria in 2006 with my practice focused on Women’s health for several years before proceeding to the United States where I earned a Master’s in Public Health from the Gillings School of Global Public Health, University of North Carolina, majoring in Maternal and Child Health in 2013. 

I completed my Family Medicine Residency Training program from the University of Calgary and was the 2019 recipient of the Dr. Chirag Shah International Resident Award. I currently hold medical practicing licenses across Canada, the United Kingdom and Nigeria.

My interests are varied and vested in working with the Vulnerable and Underserved Populations across various spheres as well as promoting health equity, diversity, and inclusion.

In my spare time, I enjoy mentoring young adults, motivational speaking, creating content for my blog and exploring the outdoors as the weather permits with my boisterous 13- and 10-year-old boys.
